Your first goal is not “learn English.” It is to own a small set of everyday sentences: introducing yourself, asking for help, buying something, talking about family, work, study, likes and plans.

Pehla maqsad “poori English seekhna” nahi. Pehle rozmarra ke chhote jumlay apne banayein: taaruf, madad mangna, cheez khareedna, family, kaam, parhai, pasand aur plans.

• Use VOA Let's Learn English as the main course. Do lessons in order.
• For each useful sentence: listen three times, say it three times, then change one part.
• Recall five old sentences without looking before learning new ones.
• Use Urdu explanations only when the English lesson is genuinely unclear.

Shadowing trains sound; answering trains speaking. Keep both. After a gentle preparation period, begin five-minute guided conversations with AI or a patient person.

• Watch once for meaning. Replay short sections and speak with the audio.

Native material works only when enough of it is understandable. Start with slow real-life videos and very easy readers. Difficulty is not proof of progress; useful repetition is.

Movies are practice and motivation—not your main beginner course. Choose familiar, dialogue-heavy content. Use English audio. Start with English subtitles; use Urdu only briefly when the story is lost.

Move from A1 readers to A2, B1 and then short original books. Speak about opinions, stories and problems—not only prepared introductions. Keep difficulty low enough that you want to return tomorrow.

Writing is easier after you have language in your ears and mouth. Begin with language you already use: messages, summaries, requests, emails and short opinions.
